Jay Silver on Making Meaning in the Maker Movement

Last weekend, JoyLabz founder Jay went to speak at a Barnes & Noble Mini Maker Faire in New York. When he arrived, he used his Maker superpowers to remake the poster advertising the event in his image: your image (he taped a mirror over his picture).

This prompted him to publish a short piece about the nature of the Maker Movement; it's well worth a read. You can see the whole article over at Medium, but here's a short excerpt to hold you over until that page loads.

The maker movement as I understand it isn’t about robots or 3D Printing or STEM or even building things. It’s a new Renaissance, post-industrial, that is led by each person and every person being fluent with the idea of meaning making, ethics, politics of technology, and conscientization.
